Last Sunday (on May 11th), New Yorkers celebrated for the 8th time the Japanese Culture at the annual Japan Day @ Central Park.
Since it first started in 2007, we have been delighted at how quickly this new tradition has captured the interest of the city, with the official support of the Consulate-General of Japan in NY, the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of NY, the Nippon Club and many corporations.
This year, the Japanese Village gathered many performances and festivities. At the activity tents, New Yorkers could try their hand at origami or calligraphy, enjoy kabuki face painting and even take a picture with Hello Kitty. Over at the food tents, they could get a taste of Japanese cuisine with okonomiyaki, gyoza and ramen.
The amazing energy and joy everybody brought to our Japanese Village, and the incredible weather, made this 8th annual Japan Day a huge success
